Christmas countdown but Melbourne showing no signs of slowing down

There may only be three weekends left on the calendar until Christmas, but rather than a gentle transition into the quieter holiday season, Melbourne buyers can expect more of a steam roll.

Homebuyers will have a bevy of options regarding auctions to attend this weekend, says REIV CEO Enzo Raimondo. “We have 1,850 auctions scheduled for the weekend in 367 suburbs”. This is believed to be a national record, with the previous record set week ending 26th October 2014 which auctioned off houses in excess of 1, 740.

Harry Li, REIV Australasian Auctioneer of the year, explains that “this is always a busy time of year for auctions and this weekend is anticipated to be no different”. Nelson Alexander agent, Peter Stephens, shares these sentiments as his Brunswick property goes under the hammer tomorrow. “While we haven’t quite had the level of stock in Brunswick as we have in recent years, it has undoubtedly been a very strong Spring for buyers, and will continue to be for the next few weeks”.
