Tasmania’s top 10 most affordable suburbs – June 2016



According to the REIT’s latest median release, after a 5.3 per cent decrease in sales for the March 2016 quarter, house sales increased 3.5 per cent in the June quarter. Tasmania recorded over 774 million dollars’ worth of property sold for the June quarter, up 4.9 per cent from last quarter and an increase of 10.2 per cent on last year.

Housing affordability in Tasmania improved with the proportion of income required to meet home loan repayments decreasing 0.7 percentage points over the March quarter, to 23.0%. This is a 2.4 percentage point decrease compared to the same quarter of 2015, or an annual improvement in housing affordability.

2. Queenstown– $62,000
3. George Town – $123,000
4. Clarendon Vale– $130,000
5. Smithton – $133,500
6. Ravenswood – $139,000
7. Scottsdale – $144,000
8. Gagebrook – $145,000
9. Primrose Sands – $160,000
10. Beauty Point – $162,500
